Why are ginger cats the friendliest cats?

Ginger cats have distinct personalities that could be linked to their coat color.

If you have an orange cat or have ever been around one, there’s a good chance you sense there’s something a little extra-special about them, regardless of the fact that there is something special about feline companions in general, no matter what color.

Every cat shows their love in its very own fashion.

But according to a recent study, ginger cats seem to stand out in terms of their personalities and behavior.

The results of a recent online survey of cat owners revealed that respondents were more likely to describe orange cats as friendly.

While this finding could be attributed to biased fans of orange cats, a genetic component in play could not be ruled out.

The gene responsible for feline coat colors is linked to gender, which in the case of ginger cats results in many more males than females.

The orange color gene is also found in tortoiseshell cats (torties) which could explain their famous “tortitude” but in this case 99.9% of tortoiseshell cats are female. Not all of them though…
