Kevan and Momo swim to safety

Kevan Yaets swims after his cat Momo to safety as the flood waters sweep him downstream and submerge the cab in High River, Alberta, after the Highwood River overflowed its banks.

More than a dozen towns in southern Alberta declared states of emergency after swollen rivers crested their banks Thursday, forcing many communities to order mandatory evacuations. Kevan Yaets and his cat Momo had to swim to safety after his pickup truck was swept away after the Highwood River overflowed its banks in High River, south of Calgary.
