Pixel’s mom, Angela, rescued her on December 3rd, 2022 from Hope Rescue. At the time, Angela had recently lost her beloved cat Shadow, who had crossed the Rainbow Bridge just a few months earlier in August.

“I was originally looking for a kitten,” Angela recalled, “but I quickly realized their energy and endless shenanigans were more than I was ready for. I just wasn’t in that place yet.”

As she walked through the shelter, Angela began to feel disheartened. None of the cats she met seemed to spark that special connection she was hoping for. “I felt so sad,” she said. “I just wanted to bring home my forever best friend.”

Before leaving, she decided to speak to one of the volunteers about how she was feeling. Angela shared her hopes — that she wanted a female cat, not quite a kitten but not fully grown, with a nice, quirky personality. “I even told her my dream cat was mostly white with orange spots,” Angela said with a smile.

The volunteer paused for a moment, then asked Angela to wait. She disappeared into the back and returned a few minutes later, leading Angela into a small office where a few cats were in cages — the last of their litters, all waiting for homes.

“Almost immediately, my eyes went to the top cage,” Angela remembered. “There she was — the cutest white cat with orange spots I had ever seen. And she was a female, just like I had described.”

Her name at the rescue was Minestrone, part of a litter named after soups. But from the moment Angela met her, it was clear she had found her forever companion.

“The volunteers knew right away that I was meant to be her mom,” Angela said. “Her name is Pixel now — and I love her dearly.” 🧡🐾
