Highway was found abandoned and injured inside a carrier at rest stop

Someone reportedly abandoned the black-and-white cat with two broken legs and an eye injury at a rest stop off I-95 in Connecticut.

“Poor little guy, when I got there, he was very still and very subdued.” his rescuers said

Veterinarians later determined that the defenseless tuxedo cat, whose rescuers named Highway, had two broken legs and trauma to one eye and was abandoned with these injuries.

“Despite his extensive injuries, Highway keeps his sweet temperament and disposition.” his vets say.

He will be needing surgeries and rehabilitation but it’d be safe to say he is already on the road to recovery.

“Highway is a really special guy, with everything he has been through, he still seeks love and attention.” his caretakers say.

Hopefully, Highway has a very different and rewarding life ahead of him, thanks to the quick thinking and action of the State Police and Animal Control officers.

UPDATE

Highway has undergone successful surgery to remove his injured eye and “tolerated it well,” vets reported.

Despite the abuse he suffered, he is a sweet and trusting cat.

Highway will be put up for adoption once he makes a full recovery.
