CREATIVITY AND ORIGINALITY

In our eyes, all cats are beautiful, so deciding which cats should win our photo competition is never an easy task. However, winning a spot in our book — or in our calendar, for that matter (check our previous post!) — doesn’t depend only on how beautiful your cat is.

Other factors such as photo quality, creativity, and originality play a very important role when selecting the winning entries that will appear in the photobook.

BEAUTIFUL DESIGN AND GREAT QUALITY

The design and quality of our books have improved greatly since our early days. At the same time, our photo contest participants continue to refine their photography skills year after year — making the final product more beautiful with every new edition.

Now you may be wondering: Do I have to be a professional photographer to enter the LoveCATS photo contest and have my cat featured in the photobook?

The answer is… absolutely NOT!

If you have a beautiful kitty and a smartphone capable of taking high-resolution photos, you’re ready to participate. If you own a digital camera or are an amateur photographer, that’s even better — but it’s certainly not a requirement.

WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF MY KITTY BEING SELECTED?

If you submit a great photo that also meets quality standards in terms of size, lighting, and definition, your chances are high!

We publish as many editions per year as possible so that no great snapshot is left out. In some years, we have released up to six editions, which means more than 200 cats have earned a place in our photobooks.

When will I know if my kitty has been selected?

The photo contest usually lasts about four weeks. During the final week, we typically publish a list of pre-selected entries, which means your cat has a great chance of making the final cut.

The finalists are announced on our Facebook Group page (and also by email) when the book goes on sale — usually about a week after the contest ends.

WE LOVE TO SURPRISE OUR TOP FANS!

We try to keep our photo contests fun and engaging. Every now and then, when a participant submits many great photos of their cat, we surprise them with a special edition dedicated exclusively to their kitty.

In 2023, Tinkerbell from the US received this special honor, and her mom couldn’t have been happier to have an exclusive edition dedicated to her adorable fur baby!

RAINBOW BRIDGE STARS

We have also been deeply touched by how many followers wish to honor their beloved cats who have passed away by submitting their photos. Because of this, we occasionally publish a “Rainbow Bridge” Special Edition.

It doesn’t happen every year, but if we don’t release a full edition, we usually include at least one “In Memory Of” photo in each book — sometimes even a two-photo spread whenever possible..
