Fukumaru touched the hearts of many people around the world for his very special relationship with his owner, a Japanese old lady known as Grandma Misao.
Fukumaru and grandmother Misao became famous worldwide for their special bond.
Both the cat and the old lady had hearing problems, which caused the two of them to develop an even more special bond.

The love and companionship they shared was brillantly captured by photographer Miyoko who is also Misao’s granddaughter.

Fukumaru was born and rescued in 2003, and according to Grandma Misao, she named the cat after the God of Fortune (Fuku), a god that will take care of things and make everything smooth in the full circle (maru) of life.
Amazing photos taken during their daily routines, showed that Fukurau always accompanied Grandma Misao in her countryside life while gardening, bathing or having dinner.

Fukumaru suffered from kidney failure for quite a few years before crossing the Rainbow Bridge in February 2016, at the age of 11.
The passing of this charming two-color eyed cat saddened many fans and cat lovers around the world who wrote messages of sympathy on social media and worried about the grieving grandmother who was left behind.

After her beloved Fukumaru crossed over the Rainbow Bridge, Grandma Misao never had another cat and she passed away in her 90’s due to heart failure, last November 2021.
