In Canada, a hermaphrodite cat, meaning it has both male and female parts, will get an innovative gender assignment surgery after veterinarians made the unusual discovery!
The owner said her daughter brought the cat, Mittens, home thinking it was a sick stray that had been abandoned by its owner.

She took Mittens to a local veterinarian, and received the news after an examination in October.
The cat has both male and female parts, and the veterinarian recommends Mittens be assigned a male gender.

Mittens has bowel issues and problems urinating as a result of its dual gender.
The veterinarian says Mittens needs to be both spayed and neutered, and then have reconstructive surgery once a gender is assigned.
