August 10, 2021Say NO! to declawing
Declawing is the surgical removal of a cat’s claws to ensure that they won’t grow back. It is a painful and risky amputation procedure that is done only for the selfish benefit of humans.
What are the side effects?
- Incisions may open, resulting in bleeding and infection.
- Declawed cats usually become depressed and urinate outside of the litter box.
- Declawed cats have a much higher tendency to bite due to insecurity.
If a declawed cat gets lost, he won’t be able to climb, escape or defend himself and survive an attack by another animal.
What are the humane alternatives?
There are a few things you can do to ensure that your cat can coexist with your curtains and furniture:
- Place cat trees, scratching pads and posts all around the house.
- Spray citric natural repellents onto your furniture to avoid scratching.
- Make sure your cat gets regular nail trims.
