Zookeepers at the Berlin Zoo were amazed when they witnessed a stray black cat had somehow made its way into the enclosure of an 800-pound Asiatic black bear named Mäuschen.
Instead of scaring off the cat, or more likely mauling it to death, the bear immediately bonded with the fearless kitty whom zoo staff named Muschi.
Muschi and Mäuschen could be often spotted together.
When the bear’s habitat expanded, Muschi cried for her larger companion because the two were separated for extended lengths of time.

Sadly, this remarkable friendship that lasted seven years, had to come to an end when Mäuschen had to be euthanized due to various health issues.
Muschi never returned to the zoo after his big bear buddy passed away and no-one knows what happened to him afterwards, but this unlikely duo became a truly inspiring story that showed the world that love knows no boundaries.
