Trudie miraculously survives being hit by a bus

A stray tortie was severly injured after being hit by a bus.

A local business owner who witnessed the accident said she had significant head injuries but she was scared and ran off.

The incident was reported to the local animal center and two weeks later the injured cat was tracked down and brought her in for treatment.

Her left eye had to be removed because of the damage caused by the accident, and her smashed jaw had to be wired back together.

“It’s a miracle that she’d survived with those horrific injuries, especially as they’d left her unable to eat. She has showed us that she is a real fighter,” her rescuers said.

After six months, the sweet cat made such an amazing recovery, some say it was a true “miracle.”

After her surgery, she was fed via a tube for the first week, and then, they slowly weaned her back onto normal food and helped her start walking again.

Six months after the accident, an elderly couple adopted the 4-year-old tortoiseshell cat and named her Trudie after St. Gertrude—the patron saint of cats.

Since welcoming Trudie to their family, they say she is progressing well and getting comfortable in her new home.

“She loves to spend time in the sunny conservatory; she has her own chair, two armchairs, and a settee to choose from, so she moves around to snooze in different spots!”

“She likes to watch the birds in the birdbath, and we have a lovely big garden, so once she’s ready, I’m sure she’ll enjoy exploring outside.” Trudie’s dad said.

Trudie’s mom added: “We’re big animal-lovers, particularly cats, and I knew I’d choose an animal who had been through the worst time so I could show them a lovely life.”
