March 2, 2025Aggie found alive 2 months after the Palisades fires
82-year-old Katherine Kiefer who lost her home in the devastating firestorm that engulfed the Palisades experienced a tearful reunion with her beloved cat Aggie who went missing for two months.
Aggie’s mom was at a medical appointment the day fire engulfed her neighborhood and her children couldn’t find her beloved cat — who was prone to hiding — when they tried to rescue her.
“When my mom found out about the fires, the one thing she asked was: ‘Did you get Aggie?” Katherine’s daughter recalls.
Aggie was feared dead for two months after the Palisades wildfire in Los Angeles left her family’s home in ashes. But her mom never lost hope.
Last weekend, Aggie’s brokenhearted mom got a call from the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter and could not believe her ears; Aggie had been found alive!
“I was very much worried that I was going to wake up only to realize it had been a dream,” she said.
“She was basically skin and bone, and in a state of absolute starvation,” Aggie’s mom said.
Many pet owners struggled to save their pets during the frantic rush to evacuate from the Palisades wildfire last January 2025. Some pets were never found and not many cat moms were as lucky as Katherine.
