A feline pitch invader that dashed into the middle of a soccer match and held up play had been missing for seven months and was presumed dead.
While Topsey’s owners thought she had come to a sad end, in fact it seems she was having a grand adventure which culminated in finding herself on national television.
She escaped her cat box and dashed off, and despite her owners putting up posters, had not been seen since then until a memeber of the family saw footage of the match, and phoned Topsey’s mom… (scroll down for video)
She said “there’s a cat that ran on the football pitch and it just looks like Topsey”
She laughed it off because she thought after 7 months that could not be possible!
The morning after the match, she got a phone call from the vet to say that they have found Topsey!
Footage from the game shows how the cat dashed onto the green in classic pitch invader fashion – but had a warmer welcome than usual, with player Jason Kerr stroking her then scooping her up so the game could continue. (scroll down for video)
Unfortunately, Topsey did seem to have had a bit of difficulty in her time away, with some marks found on her neck that could have been from a dog bite.
But vets say her blood results were ‘satisfactory’ and she will keep having treatment, her mom said.
She thanked everyone involved for getting her cat back to her.
‘And the players, I’d just like to say thank you for being so gentle and kind with her and everybody who looked after her last night because they’ve all been so nice with her and that’s lovely,’ she said.
