Freddo, the only survivor of a major flea infestation

Freddo has had a rough start in life. He’s the only survivor of a litter that died as the result of a major flea infestation.

Being feasted on by fleas, not only left Freddo without his siblings but also severely emaciated and dehydrated.

Thankfully, he was taken in by a local rescue where the little kitten could get the help he needed to survive and thrive.

The charity was contacted by a vet, who asked if they would take the kitten into their care to try to save his life.

He had received treatment for fleas, but still had over 100 bugs on him when he arrived at the shelter.

Freddo weighed less than a two-week-old kitten despite being five weeks of age; he is a tiny kitten the size of a candy bar.

He was fed specialist kitten milk every hour, all through the night, but even with this intervention, Freddo remained at a dangerously low weight– although the charity is hopeful that he will survive.

Freddo’s rescuers are determined to help him recover and gain weight so he can go on to live a happy and healthy life.

“As the only survivor of his litter, we owe it to him to help him succeed in his fight for survival, as he has already proven to us that he has a strong desire to live.

It is so frustrating to see animals suffer like this when it is so easily preventable with basic vet care such as flea and worm prevention treatments,” they said.
