Penny and her fiance Paul have a rescue cat named after singer George Michael.
The cat was named after the Wham! singer because one of his songs was playing on the radio at the rescue centre when he was brought in.
Penny said: “My fiancé Paul and I are huge Wham and George Michael fans so we thought it’d be a great name for our cat!”
George is now 11 and has been the ruler of their household since he was adopted 10 years ago.
“George’s favourite things in the world are chicken, sunbathing, barbecues, helping us ‘work’ on our laptops, and opening Christmas presents.
George Michael has become something of a celebrity himself! In their neighbourhood, most people stop and chat with him when they pass by.
On Cat Appreciation Day, Penny and Paul feel very proud of their beloved black cat and urge everyone who’s considering adopting a feline, to get an older cat who needs a home, especially a black one, as they’re often overlooked.
