Smudge, a hero to his human brother!

A heroic cat came to the rescue of his young owner by bravely jumping onto the bullies that were picking a fight on the sidewalk.

Smudge sprang into action and pounced onto the chest of the bully pushing his human brother Ethan to the ground.

The boy and his friends were so shocked by the cat’s actions that they ran away crying leaving Ethan and his two-year-old brother Ashton alone.

Ethan’s mom who witnessed the attack said: “I was keeping an eye on the boys who were playing football outside. Then I saw three boys who were much taller and older than Ethan walk over to our front gate.

I rushed outside and saw Smudge fly out from under our car and jump on the boy’s chest. The boy stumbled backward, burst into tears, and then ran off.”

Smudge was adopted after his mom was left heartbroken when the cat they had for just 18 months suddenly passed away.

In a strange twist that proves Smudge is a perfect match for the family, the cat they originally picked out was adopted before they were able to pick it up so they were introduced to a 10-week-old tabby cat instead and it was just love at first sight. They named him Smudge.

Regarding Smudge’s heroic act, proud mom now recalls: “It was absolutely brilliant seeing him look out for Ethan like that.”

Sweet Smudge has slept outside Ethan’s bedroom keeping guard ever since it happened.

“I actually feel so much safer knowing Smudge is around after seeing him defend him like that.” his mom said.
