Toby came back home for the holidays, 11 years later!

A family received best Christmas present ever! when their cat returned home to them after eleven long years.

Toby first went missing in 2012, at some point when his family relocated five miles away from their former home.

Eleven years later, the he returned household, after being found around nine miles away from his family current home, by a woman in the area, who then contacted her local shelter.

“It’s like a Christmas miracle,” Toby’s family said.

Toby’s retired mom said that she was “in shock” and that she couldn’t believe Toby was finally found

“He is now 12 but he hasn’t changed that much at all” she added.

Recalling the initial emotional ordeal of losing Toby, his mom said the kitty was particularly special to her youngest son who is now 23.

“He was Charlie’s cat. He wanted a cat when he was eight years old, and we got him Toby from the the local shelter when he turned 12,” she said.

“I don’t think Charlie’s slept all night, he’s really in shock. “He’s been in and out, in and out and looking after him.”

Toby’s mom said that the fact he was microchipped played a key role in him returning home.

Toby was microchipped when he was a kitten and the microchip had all the details, and although the address had changed the phone number was still the same.

They have updated their address to where we live now and they can’t stress enough how important it is to have your cats microchipped and owner’s info up to date.

When Toby was located, he was taken to a local shelter where he was scanned and later happily reunited with his family!

“It’s just so unbelievable that eleven years have passed and that Toby is in such a good shape considering all the dangers that he must have faced every single day.” his mom said.
