Nearly 100 cats have been voluntarily surrendered after their overwhelmed owner could no longer care for them.
After one of the owners passed away, the surviving spouse just could not take care of all these cats on his own, especially as their health issues got more and more serious.

The rescued cats range in age from six months to about 10 years; none of them had been fixed, most of them are in “rough” shape and have serious medical needs.
Most of them have experienced severe, irreversible eye changes as a result of untreated infections—including eyelids adhered to corneas and old ulcers, and some are missing at least one eye.
They also suffer from upper respiratory infections and advanced dental disease, which are consistent in hoarding conditions.

The MSPCA took in 32 cats, while 59 others were sent to other humane groups.
Cats are to be tested for ringworm. Test results along with their response to treatment for respiratory infections, will determine when they will be available for adoption although their road to recovery seems to be quite long.
Medical bills are near-overwhelming, animals also must be spayed or neutered, as well as receive proper vaccinations and microchipping.
