Turkey was hit by two major earthquakes within 24 hours, causing serious damage to buildings and making them crumble, collapsing on those inside or in surrounding areas.
As humanitarian rescue teams expand the search for people trapped in rubble in Turkey and Syria, local animal rescue organizations are working to save animals devastated by the horrific 7.9 earthquake.
In Istanbul only, It is estimated that about 125.000 cats live on the streets and roam freely among the 15 million people living in the city.

Thousands of stray cats are now waiting to be rescued but they are not alone, there are also thousands of housecats trapped with their families under the rubble too.
On of those housecats is Strawberry, a cat that was found wrapped in a bundle of clothes and firmly secured in the arms of her dad. The duo was stuck in the debris of the devastating earthquake.

As rescuers reached the spot and made an attempt to pull out the human out, the young man immediately asked them to save his cat first: “Please save my cat before pulling me out!” he begged.
