Many cities of Turkey, including Istanbul, are famous for their roaming stray cats. They have co-existed with Turkish citizens for centuries and have become part of their urban culture.
It is estimated that almost 200.000 cats roam the streets of Istanbul, Turkey’s capital city.

But Tombili was NOT just another stray cat of Istanbul!
Tombili lived on the streets for almost 10 years and became famous when someone snapped a cute picture of her striking a pose sitting on the sidewalk, and posted it on the Internet.
The adorable cat soon became a feline legend and when she crossed the Rainbow Bridge in August 2017, her fans wanted to honor her life by erecting a statue on her favourite spot.
The statue is made of bronze and has been placed in the same spot that made Tombili famous worldwide. Stray cats and many cat people from all around the world come visit Tombili’s statue everyday!
