November 24, 2021Patches vanished in Montecito and shows up 3 years later!
Patches disappeared the night of the Montecito Debris Flow in January 2018. It was assumed that Patches had passed away along with her mom Josie.
However, in December 2020, a stray calico cat was brought to ASAP Animal Shelter, and upon scanning her microchip it was a shock to discover, that she was, in fact, the long lost Patches!

Patches had been found less than a quarter mile away from her original home in Montecito.
Josie and her partner Norm, who was thought to be the only one to miraculously survived that fateful night, were long-time supporters of ASAP, and when they discovered that Patches’ microchip was registered in Josie’s name, they contacted their family and facilitate a reunion no one thought possible.
Norm had no idea that she was still alive. He was overwhelmed when he came to pick her up on New Year’s Eve.

Nobody knows what she’s been doing for the past three years, but one thing is for sure: both Patches and Norm are thrilled to be reunited.
The moral of the story is quite clear! Lost cats that have been microchipped have much greater chances of being reunited with their family
